Lenin Oyuga is an international business, technology, commercial, and strategy executive with a proven record of accomplishment of driving organizational impact and elevating growth and profitability.
Currently, he serves as the Head of Telco Digital Partnerships MEA at Mastercard, where he is focused on advancing strategic business and addressing global trends to meet evolving business and customer needs and drive long-term, sustainable organic and inorganic growth across the Telco & Fintech landscape in the Middle East & Africa.
Lenin's role involves managing the Telco Business across over 30 markets, with a focus on growing revenue by identifying and pursuing opportunities with new or existing customers and markets, expanding market share, and strengthening Mastercard's regional footprint across multiple solutions. Additionally, he develops and sets sales strategies aligned with geographies and segments, including pipeline management at the segment level. This entails executive engagement with the CXO and stakeholders in the segment and beyond.
Prior to joining Mastercard, Lenin was the Senior Director at Oracle, leading its enterprise business for the Telco industry across the Middle East and Africa. He was also the Region Head for Refinitiv across East Africa and Indian Ocean Islands and the Regional Business Manager at Eseye, United Kingdom, where he managed the IoT technology adoption in Africa. Mkopa was a success and the most extensive IoT deployment in Africa that he oversaw.
Lenin was recognized as one of the top 40 under 40 leaders in East Africa by Business Daily in 2017 and 2018. He has held and held several international board-level positions in publicly listed firms, the private sector, and the CSR sector, including the Africa Venture Philanthropy Alliance (AVPA), the 30% Club East Africa, Cherehani Africa, and the We Are Family Foundation. He also served as the co-chair of the World Economic Forum working group on financial inclusion, focusing on East Africa, from 2017 to 2019.
Lenin is a panelist and speaker on CIO Africa, where he discusses big data, blockchain, disruptive technology, analytics, and the role of technology in shaping and transforming the continent. He was a representative of his employer on the American Chamber of Commerce East African chapter from 2017 to 2019, where he advocated for the growth of East Africa as a next frontier development market in technology and beyond.
Lenin holds a graduate degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from JKUAT - Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, an M.Sc. in Web Sciences and Big Data from the University of Liverpool, and an Oracle DBA.
